GEORGE III SILVER BAIL-HANDLE CAKE BASKET, made by William Tuite, London, 1769.

PROVENANCE: This basket was given to celebrated American sculptor Felix de Weldon in London by Edward VIII in 1935 at the time that de Weldon sculpted his bust, permanently located in the Buckingham Palace portrait galley.

To be sold for the benedit of the de Weldon foundation. The cake basket was displayed in the center of the dining room table at Beacon Rock, Newport, RI, de Weldon's residence from 1952 through the 1990s.
