A rare 18th C. Southern Chippendale Walnut Secretary Desk. Recently discovered on the Antiques Roadshow. Crafted by noted cabinet maker William Seay, North Carolina School. Sold through the antiques wing of The Boston Jordan Marsh department store during the 1970’s. Purchased by Dr. Donovan and his wife, the desk had been in the collection of Kenneth Roberts, a well-known author from Maine. Est. $50,000-$70,000

Centre Farm is Lynnfield’s most well-known historic property. With over 5,000 sq. feet of living space, this home amassed the personal collection of Dr. and Mrs. Donovan. The auction will feature rare medical instruments and devices including items pertaining to Oliver Wendell Holmes, local history collection, Americana, primitives, rugs, porcelain collection, several antique cars, horse drawn vehicle, furniture, glass, china, jewelry, coins, Shaker rocker, American prints and paintings including oil on canvas, Castle Island, Boston Harbor, by S.T. Hodgdon, signed and dated 1862, Ship Mercury of Boston, oriental carpets, crocks, signed Babe Ruth baseball, early child chairs and toys, Wedgwood, Jasperware, Beleek, paper, stereo views, postcards, ephemera, mission furniture, canes and walking sticks.
