A very unusual and very charming ca 1900 whirligig. Father and son’s legs and feet move up and down as if they are pushing the seesaw up and down. Turn the blades and the whirligig does go up and down with the action of the figures. Paint is weather worn but this gives the whirligig a nice rustic, dry surface. The stand is new as this piece did not come with a base. The bench-like stand sure fits nicely with the aged appearance of the whirligig.

One of the legs has been repaired and it looks like the son might, at one time, have had a hat, but if so, it is long gone. This is a real special piece of folk art, old, great surface and rare form.  Measures 22" long including blade and 16½" tall from base to top of hat when seesaw is highest.
