NATIVE INDIAN DAGGER/LANCE. Nez Perce (Blackfoot). Circa 1850's. The Nez Perce (Blackfoot) Indian tribe once used this as a buffalo lance until the 1870's. They stopped hunting buffalo, and the Blackfoot converted the lances to daggers, applying a bone handle. The blade is marked by the makers I & H Sorby (John & Henry), an English company. The company sent salesmen to North America to sell or trade their knives. These two master cutlers brothers started together in 1806-1849. They made trade knives specifically for the Native American Indian market. Ex-Jarvas collection. Size: 17" long. A628
