Annual VADA Show and Green Mountain Antiques Show Merge

The Vermont Antiques Dealers' Association (VADA) show has merged with the Green Mountain Antiques Show, and the show will be held at the Union Arena Community Center in Woodstock on July 31 and August 1.

The Green Mountain Antiques Show has been in existence for 12 years under the management of James and Elizabeth Dunn, Bob and Mary Fraser, John and Nancy Stahura, and Peter and Mary Pill. In 2009, the Pills retired.

VADA's first annual show was held at the Park MCullough House in Bennington, and the latest show, the 35th in 2009, was held in Manchester Center.

The VADA show committee will be responsible for managing the 36th annual show, but the footprint (time, location, and welcoming atmosphere) will be that of the Green Mountain show. The show will continue to be a walled show with 58 dealers exhibiting in room settings.

-Show Profits Donations

The Vermont Antiques Dealers' Association members shared the 2009 show profits with two Vermont entities. Shelburne Museum received a $2000 gift, and Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend was awarded a $500 gift to continue its work in serving several small towns in southwestern Vermont. This is the second year that VADA has contributed to the hospital, which has close ties to the lives of rural Vermonters. VADA president Jim Dunn credits the dealer participation in the show and the enthusiastic attendance at the show for making these gifts possible.

The profits of the Green Mountain Antiques Show in late July were distributed to four Vermont food shelves just in time for the Thanksgiving season. Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Woodstock Community Food Shelf, Reading/West Windsor Food Shelf, and the Springfield Family Center each received a check for $750.
