On September 12-14, show promoter Marvin Getman will unveil his new show, the Brooklyn Antiques and Book Fair at the new Brooklyn Expo Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“Brooklyn is a fresh hot market, and everyone seems to want a piece of it. Many of the 105 dealers from all over the eastern seaboard who will attend this debut show have sold at one show or another in Manhattan, while others are brand new to the market. They all tell me they’re looking forward to doing an affordable show in this hot market in a new and easily accessible venue,” Getman said in a statement.
The first show in the venue will boast 105 exhibitors. There will be 65 booksellers, many of whom are members of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America, and 40 antiques dealers with an assortment of decorative, mid-century, and traditional antiques along with fine art and prints.
There will be a special preview opening reception to benefit the Brooklyn Public Library on Friday evening, September 12, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the preview must be purchased on line in advance.
The general admission is $12, and discount coupons for $5 off are available by signing up on the Web site (www.brooklynantiqueshow.com). Tickets are only $6 for anyone who brings a new children’s book to donate to the Brooke Jackman Foundation, a local literacy program set up by the family of Brooke Jackman, an avid reader with a deep love for children, who perished in the 9/11 attacks.
The Brooklyn Antiques and Book Fair will take place at the Brooklyn Expo Center, 79 Franklin St., Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. Directions and discount tickets are available on the show’s Web site. Marvin Getman may be contacted at <[email protected]> or (781) 862-4039.
