D’Amore Promotions will hold its first NYC Big Flea Market on September 27 and 28 at Pier 94 in Manhattan.
“Our shows are unique in that you can buy something amazing like a vintage handbag or jewelry for twenty dollars, or you can spend tens of thousands of dollars on a high-end collector item. It’s all curated and under the same roof,” said promoter Dee Dee Sides, daughter of the founder of D’Amore Promotions, Joan Sides. Joan has promoted antiques flea market events on the East Coast for over 35 years, including areas such as Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.
The NYC Big Flea Market will appeal not only to decorators and collectors, but it will also appeal to the foodie crowd. The West Side of Manhattan is known for its emphasis on quality food, as the Food Network and other key establishments are located in Chelsea and the meat packing district. Sides has brought on board Nick Korbee, formerly of the Manhattan hot spot Smith & Mills, as head chef and creator of the food and beverage aspect of the show.
Show hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Pier 94 is located at the West Side Highway and 54th street (711 12th Avenue, NYC 10019) Admission is $10 for both days, free to those under 12 years. Call (757) 961-3988 or visit the Web (www.TheBigFleaMarket.com).
