We are proud to offer a fresh-to-the-market find of original illustration art, a never before seen Joseph Leyendecker Saturday Evening Post cover painting from the December 1922 issue. Just arrived a single-owner collection of New England artwork highlighted by works of Henry Gasser, Aldro T. Hibbard, Paul Strisik, Theresa Bernstein, Emile Albert Gruppé, Carl Thorp, J. Thurston Marshall, and others. Most were purchased directly from the artists’ exhibitions in the 1960’s-70’s or earlier, 30+ pieces. This sale will feature part one from the collection of Jerry Winevsky as we “take a trip back into New York’s past.” This collection will be offered in a series of sales and consists of one of the finest collections of New York City 19th-/early 20th-century photos, postcards, stereoviews, atlases, maps, guidebooks, and more. This is truly a lifetime collection with many rare items pertaining to Brooklyn, Manhattan, Coney Island, etc. Also included, an old-time collection of occupational shaving mugs, shaving bowls, etc., collection of approx. 70 signed Hirshfeld caricature lithographs, lifetime collection of zeppelin material including Hindenburg artifacts, photos, and more, extremely rare salesman sample farm machines with matching posters. From the Midwest a super collection of advertising pieces including high-grade Coke machines, signs, neons, and more. Super rare embossed Campbell’s Soups tin advertising sign, collection of insurance advertising signs, part two of the Lowell and Barbara Shindler coffee advertising collection. Also included in this sale will be military memorabilia, autographs, rare books, collection of Art Deco toasters, scarce Civil War broadside, posters of all varieties including World War I and II, Andrea Doria life vest, stoneware, and much more.
