Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right, J. W. Carmichael, 1830. A well-known seascapist, Michael Carmichael (British
1799-1868) was from Newcastle-on-Tyne. Size: 18" x 14", in what appears to be the original gilt frame bearing the label of a framer in Newcastle-on-Tyne.

Dramatic scene of the Falls after a rainstorm in a wilderness setting with mist, rainbow, and Indians. Oil on canvas, framed size 41" x 54", signed JPB, New York, Sept. 1842. Labels on the verso from Hirschl & Adler, NY, and Harbor Gallery, Cold Spring Harbor, NY. John P. Samuel Walters (British 1811-1882), the U.S. Mail Sidewheel Steamer “Arago” approaching the French port of Le Havre. The “Arago” was built in 1850 by Westervelt & Co. of New York. Samuel Walters, one of the cornerstones of the famous Liverpool school of maritime ship painters, is extremely well known and considered the most important of Liverpool artists. Provenance: The India House Collection of Maritime Art, Hanover Square, New York City, a collection assembled during the 19th C. Oil on canvas, 52¼" x 71½", dated 1855 lower left. Cleaned and relined, in non-original frame, frame size 64" x 82½".
William Kimmins McMinn (British 1818-1898). The Barque James Longton on the Mersey off Liverpool. Signed and dated lower left “W.K. McMinn, 1863.” Note the unusually crisp and detailed rendering of
the harbor and city in the background. Oil on canvas,
20" x 30", in a period frame 25" x 35½".
Pair of Portraits: A Country Squire and his wife, 1830-1831, attributed to
John S. Blunt, known as the “Borden Limner,” (American 1798-1835). Oil on canvas, 30" x 25", frame size 30½" x 35½" Provenance: The Rhetta C. Robertson Collection of American Folk Art; Robert Bishop, NY. Purchased in the 1960s and descended in the purchaser’s family to the present owner.
A very fine pair of Chippendale Brass Andirons, attributed to Daniel King of Philadelphia, circa 1780. Punchwork and bright-cut brass and wrought iron, featuring urn tops above tapered columns with raised spiral vine decoration. The base plinths are decorated with floral garlands and borders, the front base panels with Union shields, raised on scrolled legs with spurs that terminate in bold ball-and-claw feet. 31" H x 14" W x 16" D.
