July 28th, 2005
This 66" tall 19th-century Korean chest featured finely grained burled veneer on each panel and drawer front. The rounded fronts of the frame suggested bamboo, and the use of the largest brasses on the plates of the pull and lock was uncommon. A designer could have used this in a modern setting. It sold for $1100. Robert C. Eldred Company's Oriental Art Auction, East Dennis, Massachusetts, August 19-24, 1996.
