The cloisonné that had a Japanese aesthetic did better than that with a more Middle Eastern look; thus the 4½" Meiji period vase at left brought $5060. The 7 3/8" tall sentoku bronze vase with high-relief design of crows and grasses made $1760, and the carved wood okimono of two monkeys, signed, reached $2090. Eldred's photo.Robert C.
