Imari porcelain was offered in a vast variation of form, color, and decoration, much greater in range than items seen in Americana sales. One of the most dramatic was this 27½" temple jar from the Meiji period with highly detailed decoration in the figural panels and the karakusa ground. At $1210 it was among the top selling Imari lots. Eldred's photo. Robert C. Eldred Company's Oriental Art Auction, East Dennis, Massachusetts, August 19-24, 1996.
