Pair Arrested in Stolen Antiques Case

New York State Police arrested two people after they sold stolen property to the Pine Street Antique Gallery in Johnstown, New York. Arrested were Justan E. Knapp, 32, and Violet E. Bienkowski, 51, both of Utica, New York.

State police in Remsen were investigating a burglary to a storage unit in Dolgeville, Herkimer County, in which numerous antiques were stolen. State police in Mayfield were notified, and the investigation led police to the Pine Street Antique Gallery, where numerous stolen items were located and recovered. The items’ value exceeded $6000.

An investigation revealed that Knapp and Bienkowski had sold the items to the shop. Knapp and Bienkowski were charged with criminal possession of stolen property, third degree. They were arraigned in the Perth Town Court and committed to the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $2500 bail.
